Enhancements to Economic Immigration The Canadian government will be focusing more, in the coming years, on economic immigration while targeting sectors that face labour shortages, like health, trades, and technology. By 2027, economic immigration is expected to take up about 62% of total admissions represented by the CEC. This class puts the onus on those who already have experience in Canada, easing integration and putting less pressure on the need for housing and public services. And to further reinforce economic stability, immigration under Canada's 2025-2026 plan is brought into alignment with regional needs through regional pilot programs and support for Francophone communities outside Quebec.
